Morphology
Morphology is the study of word formation , how words are built up from smaller pieces.
In morphology there is morpheme
Definition morpheme by burling (1992:38 )
>> the smallest pieces, those that can no longer be devided into even smaller meaningful
Bits are called morphemes
There are two morphemes ,they are : free morpheme and bound morpheme
So we have to focus on " FREE MORPHEME "
~~ free morpheme is morpheme that can stand alone as words.
Example : go , walk , boy , mean , and fresh
( noun, verb , adjective )
In free morphemes there are 2 types :
• content morpheme ( by : yule )
>> set of ordinary nouns ,adjactives , amd verbs which we think of us the words
Which carry the content of messages we convey
• fuctional morpheme ( by : yule )
>> set consist largely of the functional words in the language
Example : - preposition = in ,of , on
-articles. = a , an , the
- pronouns. = I , You , he
