linguistics is science of language or the study of human speech including the units,nature,structure and modification of language by: merriam
In linguistics there are many branches :
-phonetics and phonology
-morphology-
-syntax
-semantics
-pragmatics
-discourse analysis
So here we have to focus one of branch of linguistics it is "Morphology"
Morphology comes from a greek word " shape " or " form "And is used in linguistics to denote the study of words,both with regard to their internal structure and their combination or formation to form new or larger unit.There are 2 types of morphology :
1. Free morphemes
>> free morphemes is morpheme that can stand alone tobe word without there's noBound morphemes free morphemes has some of basic types,they are :Nouns , verbs , adjactives,propositions etc.
Example : eat (verb ) , woman (noun) ,kind (adjactive) , in (proposition)
And this free morphemes there are 2 types again , they are :
- lexical morphemes is morpheme that can stand alone and that can submit content fromThe message that we are talking. There are 3 kinds of lexical morphemes (verbs,nouns,adjectives)
Example : read (verb) , baby (noun), cool (adjective)
- fuctional morphemes is morphemes than can stand alone but it's not clear that the content will be delivered ,divided 3 types .they are conjuction,preposition, and pronoun
example : but (conjuction) , at (preposition) ,she (pronoun )
2. Bound morphemes
>> bound morphemes that can not stand alone but must be bound / attached to theOther morpheme. Bound morphemes are divided into 2 , they are derivitional morphemes and inflectional morphemes
.- derivational morphemes is morphemes that if fastened / affixed to the other morpheme will from morpheme / word that is new or to form words with grammar ( lexeme) is different from the previous word.
Example : beautiful ( adjactive ) is derived from " beauty " ( noun ) that receive additional morpheme " full " which changed the noun into an adjective
- inflectional morphemes is morphemes is attached / morpheme attached to another just to indetify tje grammatic not to produce a new word or form words with grammar (lexeme ) is different from the previous word .Example : books ( noun ) is derived from book (noun) here the turns into books cause to explainThat the book is plural so it doesn't change the lexeme of the word and " book" into "books" remain in lexeme same is noun lexeme.
